No, we'll be fine. But seriously, we've been here just over 48 hours and have been lost twice, once in the pouring rain.
One thing that makes San Jose (like most Latin American cities) confusing, is that street names/numbers exist only on maps and a couple signs. If you ask most people on the street, they won't necessarily know what street they are on, even if they've lived in San Jose for their entire life.
Wow, it didn't rain today. That's rare. Anyway, here are some pictures for your enjoyment.
Our hostel on a nice little side street.
The cow exhibit is in San Jose right now. Apparently it travels to cities around the world. Has anyone seen it anywhere else? These cows were made by Costa Rican artists.
It's a cow on a zipline. Ha.
Ah, Latin American art... can you say "magical realism"?
High-tech bus fare machine.
Who wants to play "Name That Bust"?
If you guessed Andrew Carnegie, you were right!
That's right, Carnegie was a benefactor of San Jose, and for that he gets a small statue in the middle of the park where so many Costa Rican prostitutes spend much of their time. Interestingly, prostitution is legal in Costa Rica.
Apparently this guy, Jose de San Martin, helped Simon Bolivar liberate South America. Sounds like a decent guy. Anybody know anything else about him?

Tim! dude... San Jose, that's so awesome, have fun and good luck and stuff. hope all's well with you :)
i've seen the cows i think, or at least very similar ones... i have also seen pigs, horses, and cats (yes, cats... lol) similar in nature in various cities. it's a really sick thing; thanks for inspiring me to take pictures next time i see such creatures. haha
hope all's well with you, i'll check the blog once in a while :)
Hey Tim,
Great Blog beginning. I haven't seen these particular cows but I've seen others. Hudson is doing dogs this year.
Speaking about wild things. The Bugg House is down and PoHo has a blog too: PoHo ACCessible. You can see pictures of the destruction there.
Maybe God's not happy though with the plans. We got struck by lightning this morning, shook the whole building and blew out the fire alarm and the phones - but fortunately did not set the building on fire!
Hey Tim,
Love to see cows having fun! Keep Hiatt happy, keep blogging!

Whoa Tim,
Great cow exhibit. The only one I've seen like it is a horse exhibit in Saratoga. Liked the cow in Emma Joy's picture best. Lots of color, and Emma Joy looks good too. Glad you are both enjoying your big adventure. Grandma Marie
Hi Tim and Emmajoy,
I'm enjoying your blog. It's nice to travel with you. I especially liked the view of Orosi, the picture of you two together, Jennifer holding hands with the saint. BTW who is Jennifer?
All the best,
Sheila
